Best Series Enders
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Do I even need to elaborate on this? The way everything tied together, the Battle of Hogwarts, the everything really (except Fred’s death-I’ll never forgive that).
The Amber Spyglass: This was one of those perfect, beautiful, bittersweet endings I loved so much. It definitely ended the way it should have but I hate that Lyra and Will were separated. CRYING FOREVER.
Specials: It’s been a while since I’ve read it, but I remember that I loved the way this ended, because it wasn’t some HEA thing and left so much open.
Last Sacrifice: I loved the conclusion of Rose’s story, and that I even ended up being surprised by the twist and it was just a fun glorious adventure.
The Bitter Kingdom: HECTOR. The end.
Worst Series Enders
Sisterhood Everlasting: WHAT THE HELL EVEN WAS THIS? Why choose to end a beloved series with a major character death and this load of crap? SO. MUCH. HATE.
Forever Too Far: Okay. So this series wasn’t great in general but I really did enjoy the second book. And it should have been ended there because this final book was pointless and unnecessary and also had a pregnancy plot. YUCK.
Requiem: This was just a hot mess of unanswered questions and I still don’t feel as if this really ended Lena’s story.
Mockingjay: Prim. Finnick. Stupid plot. Blargh. Katniss deserved better.
Breaking Dawn: I will preface this with the fact that I loved the Twilight series every step of the way-from the moment I read the first book, shortly after New Moon came out, when I had no idea the fandom existed until the day I finally decided I was sick of the crazy (I had a psycho stalker on LJ, it’s a long story) and decided to just continue loving it in quiet solitude, and I still do despite the fact that I’ve definitely become a more critical reader. I acknowledge that in terms of literary merit and you know, quality, the books really do suck and romanticize some pretty terrible stuff, and that 50 Shades of Grey exists because of them, but still, I love them. And while I enjoyed the final book overall, as a series ender this was pretty lame. All that anticlimactic build up and wasted time on the pregnancy plot. Bella didn’t have to lose a single thing and that is lame.
